  • Size 10 crochet cotton* (2700 yds/454g per ball): 1 ball cream #1004
  • 2 sets of size 3 (3.25mm) double-pointed needles (dpn)

Approx 20 inches across

Gauge
Approx 8 sts = 1 inch/2.5cm
Rnds 1-4 measure approx 2 inches across
To save time, take time to check gauge.

Special Abbreviations
M1 (Make 1): K1 in top of st in row below st on needle.
CDD (Central double dec): Sl next 2 sts as if to k2tog, k1, p2sso. (center st on top)
Sk2p (Sl 1, k2tog psso): Sl 1, k2tog, pass sl st over knit st and off needle (slants left)
K4tog: Sl next 2 sts tog knitwise, knit next 2 sts tog, pass 2 sl sts over knit st and off needle

Coaster Front
Note: Follow Fair Isle chart of choice, attaching colors as needed.
With A, cast on 21 sts.
Row 1 (RS): Work Row 1 of chart from right to left.
Row 2 (WS): Work Row 2 of chart from left to right.
Continue following chart in same manner, attaching B, C and D as indicated, until all rows of chart are complete.
Bind off all sts loosely.

Pattern Note
For this project, you will need 7 doublepointed needles.
If preferred, the doily may be transferred to a circular needle when there are enough sts; place markers between sections to keep the pattern straight, using a different marker to distinguish beg of rnd.

Cast on 4 sts on each of 3 dpn (mark beg of rnds).
Rnd 1: Knit across each needle.
Rnd 2 and all even-numbered rnds: Knit.
Rnd 3: [Yo, k2] twice across each needle. (6 sts on each needle)
Rnd 5: [Yo, k2tog, M1 below same st as last knit st, M1 below next st, k1] twice across each needle. (10 sts on each needle)
Rnd 7: [Yo, k2tog, M1, k2, M1, k1] twice across each needle. (14 sts on each needle)
Rnd 9: [Yo, k2tog, M1, k2, yo, k2, M1, k1] twice across each needle. (20 sts on each needle)
Rnd 11: [Yo, k2tog, k3, yo, k1, yo, k4] twice across each needle. (24 sts on each needle)
