Tab's Fiber Faves
Here's a book that is at the top of my "awesome list" and I just had to share my review with you!
Step It Up Knits by Vickie Howell
We all know and love Vickie Howell, an expert knitter, author and the host of eight seasons of HGTV's Knitty Gritty. She, for sure, has done it again with a fantastic new book, Step It Up Knits, that so many of you are going to adore.
Perfect for the knitter who is ready to ramp up their skills without being overwhelmed or frustrated, Step It Up Knits features step-by-step photo tutorials and 25 quick-to-knit projects that make you feel accomplished, trendy and instantly gratified. In true Vickie style, the layout and fonts are eclectic and funky, yet easy to read and follow.
The first part of the book contains all of your "Moving On Up" techniques to learn, such as cables, bobbles, mitered squares and even crochet edging. The photographs are a bit on the small side, but clear and easy to see; you literally see every step to help you duplicate it on your own. The project pages present beautiful photos, excellent instructions, and my favorite: BIG charts! No squinting required!
I enjoy the lighthearted, fun designs, and you will too! With iPad covers, mitts, hats, shrugs, capes and more, your Christmas list will be taken care of in no time! I especially love the Fair Weather ponchette (divine colors!) and have decided that certain family members of mine (who will not be named) will be getting the iLace, uLace iPad sleeve.
Without a doubt, all beginner and intermediate knitters should have this in their knitting library.
