Shawl

Measure off approx 50 inches of yarn, make a slip knot and place on needle.

String 19 beads on the 50-inch tail.

Beaded cast-on row: Using Long-Tail Cast-On method, BUB, [cast on 3 sts, BUB] 18 times, cast on 1 st -- 56 sts.

Knit 7 rows, increasing 1 st on last row -- 57 sts.

Row 1 (RS): K3, work Row 1 of Traveling Lace pat, k3.

Row 2: K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.

Continue working first and last 3 sts in garter st and working Traveling Lace pat between markers as established.

Work 8 complete reps of Traveling Lace pat.

Knit 7 rows, decreasing 1 st on first row -- 56 sts.

Cut yarn, leaving a 50-inch tail.

With RS facing, working from left to right, using small tapestry needle and keeping the working yarn above, thread a bead onto the yarn and BUB; *go into the 2nd st from the front, then into the first st from the back; pull the yarn through both sts; slip the first st off the needle; rep from * twice more omitting the bead and keeping the tension fairly loose. Continue binding off in this manner, introducing a bead every 3rd maneuver until 19 beads have been placed and all sts have been bound off.
