Gauge
22 sts and 30 rows = 4 inches/ 10cm in moss st
To save time, take time to check gauge.

Work 4 strips patt A, and 2 strips each patts B and C. Beg with 5 rows garter st, then work 192 rows of patt. Do not BO; place all sts on holders.
Right Front
Work 1 strip each patts A, B, and C as for back. Work 1 strip patt A 144 rows long for center front. Do not BO; place all sts on holders.
Left Front
Make strips as for right front.
Sleeve
CO 64 sts. Work in patt D for 8 inches, inc 1 st on each side [every 6th row] 10 times. (84 sts) BO all sts. Sew side seam.
Finishing
Referring to Fig. 1 and using a crochet hook, join strips, taking care to match patts on front and back strips.
BO front and back shoulder sts tog as follows:
Hold ndls containing shoulder sts parallel, right sides tog; with 3rd ndl, k first st on front and back ndls tog, *k next st on both ndls tog, BO 1, rep from * until all sts are worked, fasten off. Rep for 2nd shoulder.
Button band
Pick up and k 75 sts along left front edge.
Rows 1-10: Knit.
BO all sts.
Buttonhole band
Pick up and k 75 sts from right front edge.
Rows 1-5: Knit.
Row 6: K6, *yo, ssk, k8, rep from *, end k4. (7 buttonholes)
Rows 7-10: Knit.
BO all sts.
Neck band
Pick up and k 140 sts around neck, including sts on holders.
Rows 1-6: Knit.
Row 7: K3, yo, ssk, k135.
Rows 8-11: Knit.
BO all sts firmly.
Lower edge
With crochet hook and WS facing, work 1 row of sc around bottom edge. Fasten off. Set in sleeves. Block sweater to size. Sew buttons across from buttonholes.
