A NOTEWORTHY STITCH
By KATHY WESLEY
With a Twist
In this pattern we are featuring a cable twist pattern. Cables are made by changing the order or position of the stitches on the needle with the use of a cable needle. It is really fun to do -- just slip some of the stitches onto the cable needle and hold them either in front or in back of the work, work additional stitches, then work the stitches from the cable needle and continue across the row. Cables are aways a fun way to add texture to a garment. The stitch chosen by E.J. Slayton for her Tailored With a Twist has an unusual twist of its own. We decided to try this pattern on a smaller scale in the Swish With a Twist dishcloth (above). In this pattern two elongated stitches are twisted on top of other stitches. The length is added to the twisting stitches by working a double wrap and slipping these stitches on rows prior to twisting.
