Baby's Car Seat Blanket

Finished Size
Approximately 19 x 23 (38 x 48) inches Instructions are given for smaller size, with larger size in parentheses. When only 1 number is given, it applies to both sizes.
Materials
- DK weight acrylic blend yarn (260 yds/100g per ball): 2 (3) balls pink
- Size 7 (4.5mm) 24-inch circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge
- Tapestry needle
Gauge
16 sts = 4 inches/10cm in pat
To save time, take time to check gauge.
Pattern Stitches
Border Pattern (multiple of 7 sts + 2)
Row 1 (RS): P2, *k5, p2; rep from * across.
Row 2: K2, *p5, k2; rep from * across.
Row 3: P2, *k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, p2; rep from * across.
Row 4: Rep Row 2.
Rep Rows 1-4 for pat.
Body Pattern (multiple of 12 sts + 13)
Row 1 (RS): *K4, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k3; rep from * to last
st, k1.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl.
Row 3: *K3, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k2; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 5: *K2, k2tog, yo, k5, yo, ssk, k1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 7: *K1, k2tog, yo, k7, yo, ssk; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 9: K2tog, *yo, k9, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso; rep from * to last
11 sts, yo, k9, yo, ssk.
Row 10: Purl.

Cast on 93 (191) sts.
Knit 3 (6) rows.
Work 2 (4) reps of Border pat [8 (16) rows].
Knit 1 (3) row(s).
Body
Set-up row (WS): K9, place marker, knit and dec 2 (4) sts
evenly across next 75 (173) sts, place marker, k9—91 (187) sts.
Row 1 (RS): Work Border pat over 9 sts, slip marker, work
Body pat over center 73 (169) sts, slip marker, work Border pat
over last 9 sts.
Continue working established patterns until Body pattern has
been worked a total of 12 (24) times.
Next row (RS): K9, remove marker, knit and inc 2 (4) sts evenly
across next 73 (169) sts, remove marker, k9—93 (191) sts.
Border
Knit 1 (3) row(s).
Work 2 (4) reps of Border pat [8 (16) rows].
