  • Plymouth Indiecita Alpaca Suri Merino 55 percent Suri Alpaca/45 percent extra fine merino worsted weight yarn (109 yds/50g per ball):
    20 balls naturale #100
  • Size 7 (4.5mm) 30-inch circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Cable needle

Gauge

20 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches/10cm in
St st
To save time, take time to check gauge.

Special Abbreviations

C9B (Cable 9 Back): Sl 4 sts to cn and and hold in back, k5, k4 from cn.
C9F (Cable 9 Front): Sl 5 sts to cn and hold in front, k4, k5 from cn.
K1B (Knit 1 Below): Knit the st 1 row below the st on LH needle, sl top st off needle without working it.

Long Cable
Row 1 (WS): K3, *p5, k1 [p1, k1] 4 times, p5, k2, p5, k1, [p1, k1] 4 times, p5, k2; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 2: K1, p2, *k5, p1, [K1B, p1] 4 times, k5, p2, k5, p1, [K1B, p1] 4 times, k5, p2; rep from * to last st, k1.
Rows 3–13: Rep Rows 1 and 2.
Row 14: K1, p2, *C9B, p1, C9F, p2, k5, p1, [K1B, p1] 4 times, k5, p2; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 15: K3, *p5, k1 [p1, k1] 4 times, p5, k2, p9, k1, p9, k2; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 16: K1, p2, *k9, p1, k9, p2, k5, p1, [K1B, p1] 4 times, k5, p2; rep from * to last st, k1.
Rows 17–23: Rep Rows 15 and 16.
Row 24: Rep Row 14.

Pattern Note

Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of sts. Do not join; work in rows.

Throw

Cast on 256 sts.
Work even in Long Cable pat until throw measures approx 47 inches, ending with Row 37 of pat.
Bind off in pat.

Fringe

Cut strands of yarn, each 12 inches long.
Holding 5 strands tog, fold each group in half.
Working along cast-on edge, insert crochet hook from WS to RS in center st of each cable motif.
Pull fold of fringe through fabric. Draw ends through lp and fasten tightly.
Rep along bound-off edge.
Trim fringe even.
