It's a Wrap
While much of the country was celebrating America's birthday yesterday, I was in a bit more of a contemplative mood. This year has been a tough one for our country. From the Boston Marathon bombing to the fires of Colorado, it can be a lot to come back from. In my own state, less than an hour from my house, over 480 families lost their homes in the Black Forest Fire -- and that is just at the writing of this letter.
And yet, I feel so honored to be part of an amazing group known as KNITTERS (and crocheters!), because, by our very nature, we give. We knit our love, hopes and faith into every stitch and then, without a moment's hesitation, we hand off our work to someone else in an attempt to comfort.
There are many places you can turn to offer your knitting services, whether it is Knit for Boston, Halos of Hope, Shawl Ministry, or Warm Up America. Regardless of whom you choose to give to, know that my heart is continually grateful to you and the other givers of our country. I will take your inspirational courage, hearts and words, and work to give back to those near me. Even when we hurt, I have never been so proud of the people with whom I share my home, America.
