Tab's Fiber Faves
There are two things I am loving right now: lightweight yarns that I can tolerate in this summer heat and new fall magazines that remind me that cooler days are coming.
Creative Knitting's Autumn Issue
I know, I know -- summer has really only just begun, but now is the time to start knitting your fall wardrobe! And Creative Knitting has certainly excited my knitting hands with the digital premier of the autumn issue. I was given a sneak peak and let me tell you -- the designs are inspiring, cozy and ALL CIRCULAR! I mean, look at this luscious wrap, To & Fro:
I'm also in love with the charming Prospect Park Capelet. The current photo in the magazine shows a wonderful alternative to wearing the capelet, but here is a more traditional way it can be styled, as well.
Aren't you all giddy for the thick plies and luscious fiber blends of fall?
The printed version goes on sale in four days, so keep an eye out for it.
Not everyone adores lace-weight yarn as much as I do, but if you combine it with large needles and fun garments, you may discover a newfound joy in the soft ply and gentle drape. There's that, and that fact that I can't tolerate knitting with anything much heavier in this hot, dry Colorado summer. I've recently worked with some stunning yarns in this category, and I encourage you to check them out:
- Shalimar Yarns' newly released Breathless Lace. It's wickedly squishy and smooth, but it's the stunning colorways that will pull you in.
- Posh Yarn has a luscious blend of camel and silk called Natasha Lace. It is to die for, especially with its subtle color blends in bold colors. It can be a little hard to find, so when you see it, don't let it go!
- Everyone knows I love Sweet Georgia Yarns with a passion, but who can blame me with their stunning Silk Mist yarn? Unbelievably silky with a gentle mohair halo, you'll want to knit something special with this.
