Community Knitting
Marilyn writes in: I inherit lots of yarn from friends at church, much of it bits and pieces. That combines with my stash surplus to make hats and scarves for Shelter House, the emergency housing shelter in our community. Those are my knit in public (KIP) projects. The last time I made a delivery with two shopping bags full of scarves and hats, one of the clients looked at them, and with tears in her eyes, asked me, "Hand-knit things made especially just for us?" Then I had tears in my eyes. Keep up the good work, everybody.
Mary reports: I just sent 20 afghans to the Children's Inn at National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., which houses parents and their children who are recuperating from cancer. I made them from leftover yarn that has been accumulating in my basement.
- What lovely reports to pass along from community-minded knitters! It's so impressive what can be done without great expenditure for those less fortunate. Those tears were no doubt joyful for all concerned! -- Editor
