Slight Alteration to the Plan

The amount in the stash was marginal for a cardigan, so I busied myself with my friendly pattern writing software, Sweater Wizard.

The large swatch I knitted gave me the gauge I needed, and I plugged in the dimensions of my dream sweater, eliminating the ribbings and shortening the sleeves to three-quarter length. I could manipulate all the dimensions until I was happy with the result. Eventually, the yarn calculator came close to the amount I had. I printed my own personal pattern and began to knit. After about eight rows, I realized this yarn was going to be lovely, but I wanted to add a bit of punch to the garment. Another trip to Stashland yielded a ribbon yarn, Dolcino from Trendsetter, in deep purple. Adding garter ridges in the stockinette fabric was the inspiration I needed. The combination of two stash neighbors is better than either yarn alone. Kismet!
