Baby Cable Sweater

This saucy sweater features broad bands of mock baby cables at the hemline and neckline to keep things interesting, but they won't slow you down.

Materials
- Reynolds Cabana 65 percent polyester/35 percent acrylic bulky weight yarn* (135 yds/100g per ball): 8 (8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16) balls coral #935
- Size 8 (5mm) 16-inch circular needle
- Size 10 (6mm) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge
- Stitch holders
Gauge
15 sts and 20 rows = 4 inches/10cm in St st with larger needles
To save time, take time to check gauge.
Special Abbreviations
C2F (Cross 2 Sts to Front): Knit next 2 sts tog, leave on left needle, knit into first st, sl both sts off needle.
M1 (Make 1): Insert left needle from front to back under horizontal loop between sts and knit into back of this loop with right needle.
Back
Ribbing
Cast on 66 (70, 74, 82, 90, 98, 106) sts.
Row 1 (WS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from *across.
Row 2: P2, *C2F, p2; rep from *across.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 until back measures 5 (5, 5, 5, 5 1/2, 5 1/2, 5 1/2) inches from beg.
Body
Continue to work in St st until back measures 15 1/4 (15 3/4, 16, 16, 17, 17 3/4, 19) inches or desired length to underarm, ending with a WS row.
Shape armhole
Row 1 (RS): Bind off 3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6) sts, knit across.
Row 2: Bind off 3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6) sts, purl across.
Row 3 (extra-small to large): Ssk, knit across to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Row 3 (1X-large to 3X-large): Bind off 2 (2, 3) sts, knit across.
Row 4: Bind off 0 (0, 0, 0, 2, 2, 3) sts, purl across.
Row 5 (all sizes): Ssk, knit across to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Row 6: Purl across.
Dec 1 st at each end [every other row] 1 (1, 1, 3, 4, 6, 8) times. (54, 56, 60, 62, 66, 68, 70 sts)
Work even in St st until back measures 22 1/2 (23, 23 1/2, 24, 25, 26 1/2, 28) inches from beg, ending with a RS row.

Work as for Rows 1 & 2 of back ribbing, at the same time, work M1 at each end [every 4th row] 0 (0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1) time(s), [every 6th row] 0 (0, 3, 9, 9, 10, 13) times, [every 8th row] 1 (8, 7, 3, 3, 3, 0) time(s), then [every 10th row] 6 (1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0) time(s). (52, 56, 58, 62, 66, 68, 70 sts)
Continue to work even until sleeve measures 14 1/2 (15 3/4, 15 3/4, 16 3/4, 16 3/4, 16 3/4, 17 1/2) inches or desired length to underarm, ending with a WS row.
Shape sleeve cap
Bind off 3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off 0 (0, 0, 0, 2, 2, 3) sts at beg of next 2 rows, dec by ssk at beg and k2tog at end [every other row] 9 (10, 9, 11, 11, 10, 9) times, then [every 4th row] 1 (1, 2, 1, 1, 2, 2) time(s). Beg with a RS row, bind-off 3 sts at beg of next 4 rows. Bind off rem 14 (14, 16, 16, 16, 16, 18) sts.
Assembly
Knit each set of shoulder sts tog using a 3-needle bind off. Leave final st from each shoulder seam on needle rather than fastening off.
Neck
Sl shoulder seam sts along with 30 back neck sts and 30 front neck sts to circular needle. (62 sts)
Beg at right shoulder seam, place marker after right shoulder seam st for beg of rnd.
Rnd 1: *[C2F, p2] 7 times, C2F, p2tog; rep from * once more. (60 sts)
Rnd 2: *K2, p2; rep from * around.
Rnd 3: *C2F, p2; rep from * around.
Rep Rnds 2 and 3 until back of collar measures 2 1/2 inches from Rnd 1, ending with Rnd 3. Bind off loosely in k2, p2 rib.
Sew in sleeves, then sew side and sleeve seams.
