  • Size 5 (3.75mm) needles or size needed to obtain gauge

Sizes

Woman's small (medium, large, extra-large, 2X-large) Instructions are given for smallest size, with larger sizes in parentheses. When only 1 number is given, it applies to all sizes.

Finished Measurements

Chest: 32 (36, 40, 44, 48) inches
Length: 18 inches

Gauge

24 sts and 36 rows = 4 inches/10cm in Diagonal st.
To save time, take time to check gauge.

Pattern Stitch

Diagonal Stitch (multiple of 6 sts)

Row 1 (RS): *K5, p1; rep from * to end.

Row 2: P1, *k1, p5; rep from * to last 5 sts, k1, p4.

Row 3: K3, *p1, k5; rep from * to last 3 sts, p1, k2.

Row 4: P3, *k1, p5; rep from * to last 3 sts, k1, p2.

Row 5: K1, *p1, k5; rep from * to last 5 sts, p1, k4.

Row 6: *P5, k1; rep from * to end.

Rep Rows 1-6 for pat.

Front

Cast on 96 (108, 120, 132, 144) sts.

Work in garter st for 3/4 inch, ending with a WS row.

Work in Diagonal St until piece measures 4 inches, ending with a WS row.

Work K3, P3 Rib until piece measures 7 inches, ending with a WS row.

Work in Diagonal St until piece measures 11 (10, 10, 9, 9) inches or desired length to armhole.

Armhole

Slipping the first st of every row pwise, continue in established pat until piece measures 16 inches, ending with a WS row.

Discontinue slipping the first st; work K3, P3 Rib until piece measures 18 inches, ending with a WS row.

Bind off all sts in rib.

Back

Work as for front, but work P3, K3 Rib at top 2 inches.

Finishing

Block pieces to finished measurements, allowing waist ribbing to pull in naturally.

Starting at bottom, sew side seams for 11 (10, 10, 9, 9) inches, leaving rem 7 (8, 8, 9, 9) inches open for armholes. Beg at each shoulder edge, sew 3 (4, 5, 6, 7)-inch shoulder seams. Weave in ends.
