Another Way to Join a Round

Lucy says: "Thank you for your article on knitting hats in the round. I have been making chemo hats for Gilda's Club for years. I like to use Simply Soft by Caron or Soft Yarn by Red Heart. I always had trouble with twisting when using circular needles, so I came up with a solution. Cast on using a straight needle. Knit one row, purl one row; then knit using the circular needle. That gives me enough completed rows, so it is easier to connect without twisting. I use the tail to close the gap, and I have a neat finish."
