Debbie Macomber Launches Second Annual Knit1, Bless2

Click here for larger image.Debbie Macomber is asking readers to participate in her second annual Knit1, Bless2. This Mother's Day initiative benefits three national charities that provide handmade garments and blankets to infants and children in need. The popular and prolific author, an admitted knit-o-holic, desires one hand-knitted or crocheted item from each reader. Her goal for 2011 is a 25 percent increase of the 2010 donation of more than 2,000 handmade baby blankets and garments.

Macomber always makes it a point to be home on Mother's Day to celebrate with her children and grandchildren, and to honor the memory of her own mother. Debbie created this program for the babies born into this world who may not have had all of the advantages that her own children enjoyed. She wanted to find a way to help -- and knitting for charity has always been one of her passions. Macomber encourages knitters and crocheters to celebrate Mother's Day by making one special project!
