Do you know of a pattern for a child's neck warmer? Our children are not permitted to wear scarves due to a child's scarf causing a death on the school bus. Thanks for your help.

What a tragedy! This situation has caused scarves being banned in many schools. The item you are seeking is often called a neck gaiter. Essentially, it's a hat without a top! You could easily make an adult-size hat with a nice soft yarn, using any pattern you like, but instead of decreasing as usual, simply make an edge matching the gaiter's beginning at the top. It's pulled down over the head to its nesting place on the neck. Plain or fancy, this is a great little project which you might even use to interest the children in knitting for themselves. -- Editor
