Pam David Reports
"I so enjoy your whole newsletter: the patterns, stories and the comments from everyone. I've knitted for many years, and I'm thrilled to see that interest in handmade crafts is flourishing. I think it is important for everyone to have a handcraft since it brings such a satisfaction and feeling of accomplishment.
"I have long thought it is almost more important for a man to have some hobby of crafting, mostly so that when they retire they have something to do. I have three grown sons who all learned how to do a little crochet when they were young. They don't do any now, but they have been exposed. They all watch me daily when they are here as I knit and crochet along, asking them what they think.
"I have a grandson who has lived with me for seven years now; he definitely takes advantage of my craft for gifts for all of his friends. He doesn't do any needlework yet, but he had me knit 10 snowboard hats, and one afghan for his friends that graduated this year. That was fun!"
Editor's Comments
You're setting a fine example for your sons to follow. Hobbies are an underrated form of creative release that benefit all who enjoy them. How fortunate your grandson's friends are, being the recipients of your skills and generosity. --Editor
