Ovarian Cancer Support
In the world of fundraising for medical research, there is much emphasis on finding ways to cure and prevent breast cancer. However, Karin Skacel of Skacel Knitting has another cause near and dear to her heart. In fact, she is promoting a kit of yarn and pattern for a sock full of feminine symbols toward the cure of ovarian cancer, which has struck close to her. Fortunately, her family member has survived the diagnosis and is doing well.
Karin has kitted a beautiful teal yarn, the official color of the campaign to eradicate ovarian cancer, with a pattern for socks you won't soon forget. Skacel will offer the Trekking yarn for 3,000 pairs of meaningful and humorous socks with the distinctive yarn for sale. The pattern includes a small amount of beading, which can be done with a crochet hook rather than stringing the beads on the yarn. These socks are unlike any you've seen elsewhere!
Skacel has a special arrangement with WEBS and Jimmy Beans Wool. When a customer purchases this sock kit through them at the cost of $25, the ENTIRE proceeds will be donated to the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research! Please check for availability at your local yarn shop or the sites mentioned above. If you are moved to contribute toward this worthy cause, get those sock needles clicking!
