Laura's Solution
"Kudos to Marti! The past nine years have been especially hard for me starting with 9/11. We lost 11 co-workers, and as I am fond of saying, '15 minutes and the Grace of God is what saved me.' A lot of us suffered survivor's remorse. I am one to always have some type of needle in hand for at least one hour a day (my only therapy). I designed and stitched a piece for myself in remembrance. But a couple years after that, my mother passed. She was a confident knitter. I had learned from her years ago but never really pursued it. She left me all of her knitting supplies, things she had collected over decades. I started knitting again as homage to her. It helped me to cope and feel close to her memory. I taught myself to knit socks cuff down and toe up. I certainly have not knit as many as Marti, but I must confess, they are addictive. Small and portable, socks are ideal if waiting in line or stuck in traffic or on a train commuting. Knitting has taught me patience and process. Even if I have to rip back to a spot, it is OK. Knitting has saved me from insanity. Thanks for Marti's story; it lets us all know we are not alone."
One thing knitting has taught me is that we're all in this together, Laura! In that way, it's a great metaphor for life! Knitting to the rescue once again! --Editor
