Lace is a little bit trickier because it’s hard to count the stitches in lace. Here’s what I suggest:

1. Cast on about 3 or 4 repeats for about 6 inches.

2. Block your swatch, then measure across your swatch from end to end.

3. Then, take your measurement and divide by the number of stitches you casted on = this is your sts per inch.

4. Take you sts per inch number and multiply that number by 4. This equals your gauge swatch measurement. If this doesn’t match then you need to adjust your needle size up or down accordingly.

You can do the same for your row gauge in a similar way. You just keep track of the number of rows you are working if you’re having a tough time counting in lace. Then for example, you know you worked 20 row and your work measures 2 inches, you simply divide 20 by 2 inches which is 10 rows per inch.

Hope this helps!
